MoFiDown

There are several theories as to the whys and wherefores of MoFi downtime. One states that MoFi goes down so often in homage to MeFi's incessant JRun troubles. Whether or not this is given real credence among MoFites is the stuff of heated hypothetical debates. What cannot be denied is that both sites are down Far Too Often. -- Skrik.

The official version is that MoFi is a popular target of spammers. As if spammers have nothing better to do with their valuable time than find an up-and-coming group blog and hit it with a DOS attack. (Excuse me while I snigger a little at the naïveté.) -- Skrik.

Drew spilled beer on the servers again.

MoFi is going through some growing pains. The downtime is a symptom of the onset of adolescence, in which the server becomes more needy, yet unwilling to accept help. It lies in the void between childhood and adulthood and copes with the changes by shutting down completely. It hopes one day to wake up old enough to legally buy beer. --WikiSysop 19:34, 21 May 2006 (UTC)

I read the web somewhere that MoFi is on its last legs. Can anyone confirm this? -- Skrik

I have this from a reliable source: The admin and her simian assistant do the wild passionate monkey-dance on the top of the server. Hence the instability. Hell, you'd be unstable were you subject to that kind of abuse. -- Skrik 23:27, 27 December 2006 (UTC)

As The Bone pointed out some time ago, it is called rim-u-hosting. --WikiSysop 22:08, 28 December 2006 (UTC)
