Radio Free Mofirc DJ How To/old linux notes

HEY! This might not work. It works for me on Xubuntu, but like all things Linux, might not work for you.

  1. Please first make sure someone isn't already broadcasting by checking here. If it says "Server is currently down," then you're probably free to broadcast. Checking into #mofirc (see Mofirc on how) to make sure nobody is planning on broadcasting first would be polite.
  2. Install xmms
  3. Install xmms-liveice
  4. Install mpg123
  5. Open xmms
  6. Open Preferences, go to Audio I/O Plugins.
  7. Audio device: Any secondary device (such as hw:0,1).
  8. Go to Effects Plugins
  • LiveIce is in Effect Plugins. Click configure. Follow the guide below... loosely.
    • Audio format:
      • Sample Rate: 44100
      • Number of Channels: Stereo
      • Stream Bitrate: 128000 (the pmdboi says: pls to be using 128kbps files!)
      • Encoder type: Lame
      • Executable: /usr/bin/lame
      • Description: Anything you like can go in these blanks
    • Server tab:
      • Server Address: ct5.fast-serv.com
      • Server Port: 9797 (Note, this is not the same as the listening port. This is for liveice ONLY)
      • Password: Ask pmdboi
      • Everything else leave unchecked and/or empty
